Navratri Ashtami & Maha Navami 2020 on same day on October 24


Navratri Ashtami and Maha Navami are falling on the same day this year. As per the Hindu Panchang, the Durgashtami and Maha Navami will be observed on Saturday, October 24, 2020. It is believed that on Maha Navami day – the 9th day of Navratri, Goddess Durga killed the demon Mahishasura.

On the day of Ashtami and Maha Navami devotees also worship young girls as a form of Navdurga. Worshipping of young girls during Durga Puja is known as Kumari Puja. This year, the Kumari Puja or Kanya Puja will be observed on October 24, 2020.
